About Dr. Blackwood


Dr. Blackwood was the first neuropsychologist in Arizona to be board certified in Clinical Neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. Previously affiliated with the Department of Neurology of Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix and with the Neurosciences Program at Phoenix Children's Hospital, he now focuses his practice on diagnostic consultation in the office setting, dealing with a wide variety of conditions.

Dr. Blackwood's special interests include problems of school-age children, the effects of mild traumatic brain injury in adults, and the effects of dementia on the elderly. He is consultant to the Arizona Cardinals, assisting in the management of concussions. He is adjunct associate professor in the Department of Psychology at Arizona State University and is a member of the panel of expert examiners for the criminal division of the Superior Court of Arizona for Maricopa, Yavapai, Mohave, and Yuma Counties. He has extensive experience in consulting concerning neuropsychological issues in civil and criminal legal cases.
